MACC Guide

Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment — use your existing MACC balance with Pauhu® at identical North Europe EUR rates.

What is MACC?

The Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) is a pre-committed spending agreement between enterprise customers and Microsoft Azure. Organizations commit to spending a certain amount on Azure services over a fixed period (typically 1–3 years). Third-party solutions listed on the Azure Marketplace can count toward this commitment.

Pauhu prices are anchored 1:1 to the Azure Retail Prices API (North Europe, EUR). This means any MACC customer can hot-swap Azure AI Search, Translator, GitHub Copilot, or IoT Hub workloads to Pauhu with zero pricing friction — the per-unit rates are identical.

Key benefit Your existing MACC balance covers Pauhu consumption. No new procurement cycle, no price negotiation, no budget reallocation.

How It Works

  1. Pauhu fetches live prices from the Azure Retail Prices API every 6 hours (cron: 0 */6 * * *).
  2. Region locked to North Europe (Dublin) — matching Pauhu's EU-only infrastructure.
  3. Currency: EUR — all prices in euros, no conversion markup.
  4. Anomaly detection — if any SKU drifts >25% between refreshes, the old price is kept and an alert is raised. No silent price changes.
  5. KV-cached — sub-millisecond response times. API endpoint: GET /v1/pricing/all.

Two-Part Tariff

Every Pauhu domain uses a two-part tariff: a fixed platform fee (per-seat or per-model subscription) plus usage-based meters for consumption above included allowances.

Data (pauhu.eu)

Azure equivalent: Azure AI Search (Cognitive Search)

Included allowances: S = 10,000 queries + 1,000 exports/mo. M = 50,000 queries + 10,000 exports/mo. L = unlimited. Semantic Ranker included in all tiers.

Domain → Azure Service Mapping

Each Pauhu domain maps to a specific Azure service for pricing equivalence:

Pauhu DomainProductAzure EquivalentRegion
pauhu.euDataAzure AI Search (Cognitive Search)North Europe
pauhu.comTranslateTranslatorNorth Europe
pauhu.aiSearchAzure AI Search (Cognitive Search)North Europe
pauhu.devCodeGitHub CopilotGlobal

Semantic Ranker (Included)

AI-powered relevance ranking (equivalent to Azure AI Search Semantic Ranker) is included in all tiers for Data (pauhu.eu) and Search (pauhu.ai). No separate add-on purchase required.

The Azure infrastructure cost for Semantic Ranker is already factored into the two-part tariff.

Enterprise Data Licenses

For organizations that need model weights or raw training data, Pauhu offers perpetual, non-exclusive data licenses:

LicensePriceIncludes
AI Training License €249,000 Full EU24 translation model weights, training data derivatives, commercial use rights, 12-month update subscription, technical integration support
Complete EU Language Data €499,999 Everything in AI Training License + raw training corpora (EU24), IATE terminology database export (2.4M terms), EUR-Lex legal document corpus, translation memory archives, lifetime updates, dedicated data engineer support

Migration from Azure

Switching from Azure AI Search, Translator, or GitHub Copilot to Pauhu:

  1. Pricing equivalence verified. Pauhu fetches live Azure EUR rates every 6 hours. Your per-unit cost stays the same.
  2. EU-only data flow. All Pauhu infrastructure runs in EU jurisdiction (Cloudflare EU, Hetzner Helsinki). No third-country data transfer.
  3. API-compatible. Pauhu's search API returns JSON results with the same fields you query in Azure AI Search. Translation API accepts the same input format as Azure Translator.
  4. Zero lock-in. If you leave Pauhu, switch back to Azure (or any other provider) at any time. No data export fees, no contract penalties.

Step-by-step

  1. Sign up at pauhu.eu (or the domain matching your workload).
  2. Choose a tier matching your current Azure SKU. Use the two-part tariff table to find the equivalent.
  3. Update your API endpoint from https://{service}.cognitiveservices.azure.com/ to https://staging.pauhu.eu/v1/.
  4. Replace your Azure subscription key with a Pauhu API key (JWT-based authentication).
  5. Run your existing test suite. Verify results match.

FAQ

Does Pauhu count toward my MACC balance?

When Pauhu is listed on the Azure Marketplace, yes — consumption counts toward your MACC commitment. Until the Marketplace listing is live, Pauhu is billed separately via Stripe at the same EUR rates.

Why are prices anchored to North Europe specifically?

All Pauhu infrastructure runs in the EU. North Europe (Dublin) is the Azure region with the lowest latency to our Cloudflare EU edge nodes. Prices in other Azure regions differ; we use North Europe for consistency and GDPR compliance.

What happens if Azure changes prices?

The pricing service fetches fresh prices every 6 hours. If any SKU price drifts more than 25%, the anomaly detector holds the old price and raises an alert. Pricing pages update automatically once the new price is confirmed legitimate.

Can I use Pauhu and Azure side-by-side?

Yes. You can route some workloads to Azure and others to Pauhu. The identical pricing means your cost model stays the same regardless of routing.

Where can I see live prices?

API: GET /v1/pricing/all (all domains), GET /v1/pricing/two-part (two-part tariff breakdown). Web: pauhu.eu/pricing.
